I administered the KRAL yesterday – the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment for Literacy, which is scripted by the Ohio Department of Education. Most of our kids had been done but we had a couple new enrollees who didn’t have data, and I’m so glad I got to test the one kid I did.
At the end of every set of directions, the script says “do you have any questions?”
N had questions.
Questions like, why do cats purr? Why are elephants so big? Why do giraffes have such long necks? Why do dogs have four legs?
Totally unrelated to the directions I was giving her, but brilliant nonetheless. I asked if she had questions, she thought for a minute, and she decided that she did.
